Vice Chair for Research, New Full-Time Position

The Department of Family Medicine at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is seeking a full-time Vice Chair for Research. This position includes 0.2 clinical time at MedStar Health Family Medicine at Spring Valley, 0.4-0.5 Vice Chair supervision duties including faculty development, research development, and collaborative partnerships, 0.2 research development and dissemination for the Department of Family Medicine CAPRICORN (Capitol Area Primary Care Research Network) including practice-based research network growth, and 0.1-0.2 research-related teaching (e.g. seminars, workshops, Grand Rounds) for faculty, residents and students. CAPRICORN time is sponsored by the MedStar Health Research Institute and will include research assistant/biostatistician and grant writing support. Responsibilities include representing Family Medicine at institutional research meetings, research program development, faculty and staff evaluation, research development and dissemination for the Department of Family Medicine CAPRICORN (Capitol Area Primary Care Research Network), supervision and direction of research programming and education, grant funding initiatives, collaborative and interprofessional projects for faculty, residents and students, dissemination of department scholarly work. Collaborative partnerships include the MedStar Health Research Institute, Georgetown University Medical Center, and the Robert Graham Center for Policy Studies in Family Medicine and Primary Care. All research time is sponsored by the MedStar Health Research Institute and will include research assistant/biostatistician and grant writing support. Responsibilities include representing Family Medicine at institutional research meetings, research program development, implementation and dissemination for CAPRICORN, grant funding initiatives, contributing to interprofessional research projects for faculty, residents and students, and dissemination of department scholarly work. This faculty position will collaborate with the CAPRICORN Director, Vice Chair for Research and the MedStar Health Research Institute.  The ideal candidate must possess a passion for population health, practice-based research and scholarly activity. The Research Faculty position supports the CAPRICORN Director, Vice Chair for Research, and Department Chair in a continued tradition of innovative, community-oriented research and educational excellence. Opportunities exist to precept residents in inpatient and outpatient settings. The Department of Family Medicine at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is seeking a full-time Vice Chair for Education. This position includes 0.3 clinical time at MedStar Health Family Medicine at Spring Valley, MMG Family Medicine at Fort Lincoln or MMG Prompt Care urgent care, 0.5 Vice Chair supervision duties including faculty evaluation, faculty development, mentoring and collaborative partnerships, 0.2 faculty, resident and student teaching (e.g. seminars, workshops, Grand Rounds). Responsibilities include representing Family Medicine at institutional education meetings (UME, GME, CME), faculty development and academic evaluations for Department of Family Medicine faculty, supervision and direction of educational programming, grant funding initiatives, collaborative and interprofessional projects and teaching for faculty, residents and students. Collaborative partnerships include the School of Medicine, School of Nursing & Health Studies, Graduate degree programs, and clinical learning sites. This faculty position will collaborate with the Director of Medical Student Education, Residency Program Director, Vice Chair for Research and the Department Chair for direction of educational programming, grant funding initiatives, collaborative and interprofessional projects for faculty, residents and students. The Vice Chair for Education supports the Department Chair in a continued tradition of innovative, community- oriented educational excellence and patient-centered clinical care. 5 years of medical education experience at UME, GME or CME level, associated publications and presentations required. At least 2 years in a leadership role as Vice Chair, Residency Program Director, Director of Medical Student Education or Asst/Assoc Dean preferred. Position includes appointment at a non-tenured associate or professor level with commensurate salary; advanced appointment and salary are dependent upon qualifications.
