Vice Chair for Research, New Full-Time Position

The Department of Family Medicine at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is seeking a full-time Vice Chair for Research. This position includes 0.2 clinical time at MedStar Health Family Medicine at Spring Valley, 0.4-0.5 Vice Chair supervision duties including faculty development, research development, and collaborative partnerships, 0.2 research development and dissemination for the Department of Family Medicine CAPRICORN (Capitol Area Primary Care Research Network) including practice-based research network growth, and 0.1-0.2 research-related teaching (e.g. seminars, workshops, Grand Rounds) for faculty, residents and students. CAPRICORN time is sponsored by the MedStar Health Research Institute and will include research assistant/biostatistician and grant writing support. Responsibilities include representing Family Medicine at institutional research meetings, research program development, faculty and staff evaluation, research development and dissemination for the Department of Family Medicine CAPRICORN (Capitol Area Primary Care Research Network), supervision and direction of research programming and education, grant funding initiatives, collaborative and interprofessional projects for faculty, residents and students, dissemination of department scholarly work. Collaborative partnerships include the MedStar Health Research Institute, Georgetown University Medical Center, and the Robert Graham Center for Policy Studies in Family Medicine and Primary Care. Research Faculty Position, New Full-Time Position

Medical Director Position, Faculty Practice Vacancy

The Department of Family Medicine at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, and MedStar Health Family Medicine at Spring Valley faculty practice is seeking a full-time Medical Director. This position includes 0.6-0.7 FTE clinical time and 0.3-0.4 FTE Medical Director/administrative time at MedStar Health Family Medicine at Spring Valley collaborating with Practice Administrator, Department Administrator and Department Chair for the efficient operation of the Health Center. The practice is an NCQA Level 3 PCMH with 7,000 visits per year and 8 providers contributing 3.0 FTE clinical time. Responsibilities include representing Family Medicine at the Chairs and Chiefs committee, quality management, PCMH/QPP/MIPS faculty and staff education, clinical evaluations of faculty, financial management, including revenue cycle management, maintaining appropriate accreditation, coordination of faculty, staff, student and resident learners and interprofessional teams. The medical director, with assistance from the Practice Administrator, prepares the “Doc of the Day” schedule and call schedules, for business hour and after hour phone coverage respectively. Requires maintaining practice schedule, including collaboration with other Department Divisions for clinical coverage. The ideal candidate must possess a passion for clinical patient care, joy in practice, practice innovation and leadership experience. The Medical Director supports the Department Chair in a continued tradition of innovative, community-oriented educational excellence and patient-centered clinical care. Residency Faculty Position, New position 

Georgetown University Providence Hospital

The Georgetown University-Providence Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program is seeking a full-time residency faculty position. The ideal candidate must possess a passion for resident and student teaching and a commitment to caring for the urban underserved with at least two years of experience working with residents preferred. Residency faculty support the Program Director in a continued tradition of innovative, community-oriented educational excellence and patient-centered clinical care. Responsibilities include: participating in resident recruitment, overseeing resident scholarly activity, ensuring the quality of didactic and clinical education including the maintenance and development of curricula and partner training sites, and working directly with residents to ensure appropriate milestone development. A minimum of 0.4 FTE time will be assigned to full-spectrum ambulatory patient care as well as being a member of the team covering inpatient medicine.  Inpatient obstetrical skills preferred, but not required. We are an ACGME accredited 7-7-7 community-based, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital-administered program, sponsored by Providence Hospital. The FMC is one of several practices currently updating its NCQA Level 3 PCMH status. Social Work, Referral Specialist, and Health Educator are well established on-site, with plans to add Behavioral Health (Psychiatry and Psychologist/Clinical Social Worker). Located just outside the nation’s capital, opportunities exist to explore interests in health policy, public policy, research, global health and the AFP journal.
